This painting is an enigma. The face emerges like a broken mask, its surface splintered into violent swaths of color—bruise-purple beside fever-yellow, blood-red bleeding into sickly green. Each fragment seems to pulse on its own, as if the emotions they once held have shattered and begun to rot. The features twist unnaturally, the nose grotesquely elongated and curved, bending like bone softened in a dream that’s turning toward nightmare.
Where a mouth should be, the canvas ruptures into something alive: a barracuda, frozen mid-lunge. Its metallic body juts outward, jaws parted in a silent scream of razor teeth. It doesn’t sit on the face so much as erupt from it, as though the creature has been growing inside the skull, waiting for its moment to break free. Its cold, glassy eye replaces any hint of human softness—an intrusion of instinct, hunger, and deep-sea terror into the fragile architecture of the portrait.
The result is a being caught between worlds: not fully human, not fully beast, but a violent hybrid born from distortion, pressure, and the parts of ourselves we try hardest to swallow. Here, the mouth doesn’t speak—it attacks. And the face beneath it seems already halfway devoured.
